The 5th Annual Lend Me An Ear!
"Old Time Radio: Comedy Night"
Monday, October 27, 2008
New American Shakespeare Tavern
499 Peachtree Street
7:30 p.m.
Admission: $15 at the door or in advance at http://ear.tix.com
It's time again for a fabulous evening of radio recreations presented by the Atlanta AFTRA/SAG/AEA Radio Players. Come join in the laughter as we celebrate America's Golden Age of Radio with some of Atlanta's finest actors and voice talent. The evening will include Blondie, direct from the funny papers; the pointed and absurd wittiness of The Fred Allen Show; The Bickersons, a sourly cynical take on the institution of marriage; the low-key drollery of Easy Aces; and The Great Gildersleeve, one of radio's earliest spin-offs. Also rounding out the evening will be special guest star Bill Tush, from the TBS "Tush Show" who, along with former cast member and comedian Rob Cleveland, will recreate the irreverence and intractability of The Henry Morgan Show. The cast includes live sound effects and more than 30 members of the Entertainment Unions. The doors open at 6:15 pm and delicious English fare and beverages will be available for purchase at that time. Public parking is available at Crawford Long Hospital across the street from the theater. All proceeds benefit the Food Bank. Click here for directions.

Art and Goodwill Joins Forces at 'Canstruction'Underground Atlanta
November 7 until November 16
Canstruction is a distinctive event that features canned goods constructed into extraordinary, larger-than-life, colorful sculptures, in an effort to benefit the national fight against hunger while showcasing the talents of area architects and engineers. Using nothing but cans, tape, cardboard, rubber bands and wire, the teams build giant sculptures of everything from castles to cartoon characters. Following this ten day event, all of the food is donated to the Atlanta Community Food Bank for distribution throughout the community. This event is part of the nationwide canstruction competition, and local winners (as decided by a panel of judges) will move on to compete against winners from other cities. The event is being organized by AIA Atlanta, Atlanta SDA and is presented by The Kroger Co and Coca-Cola. Stop by and see these fantastic works of abstract art! Free admission for all.
